Driver Blend Door Travel Too Large
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRB, read the active ATC DTCs. If the DRIVER BLEND DOOR NOT RESPONDING DTC set, see DRIVER BLEND DOOR NOT RESPONDING . With the DRBIII®, reset the ATC after repair/replacement is complete. If the DRIVER BLEND DOOR NOT RESPONDING DTC did not set, go to the next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Remove the Driver Blend Door Actuator. See appropriate AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in HVAC. By hand, attempt to rotate the driver blend door motor in both directions. If the blend door actuator turned in either direction, replace the Driver Blend Door Actuator. With the DRBIII®, reset the ATC after repair/replacement is complete. If the blend door actuator did not turn in either direction, go to the next step.
- Remove the Driver Blend Door Actuator. See appropriate AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in HVAC. Rotate the blend door (door only). Blend door should rotate approximately 45 degrees from stop to stop. Inspect the blend door linkage for excessive wear or missing linkage. If there were any mechanical problems found, repair or replace the driver blend door/linkage as necessary. With the DRBIII®, reset the ATC after repair/replacement is complete. If there were not any mechanical problems found, replace the ATC. See A/C-HEATER CONTROL PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With the DRBIII®, reset the ATC after repair/replacement is complete.
