Ignition MUX Switch Input Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ignition switch 5-pin connector. See Fig 1. Connect a fused jumper wire between harness side of ignition switch connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Brown wire) and ground. Using scan tool, select SENSORS and monitor IGNITION SW voltage. If scan tool displays 0 volts, go to step 3. If scan tool does not display 0 volts, go to next step.
- Locate and access Body Control Module (BCM) connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using a jumper wire connected to ground, backprobe BCM connector C5 terminal No. 10 (Violet/Brown wire). Monitor IGNITION SW voltage on scan tool. If scan tool displays 0 volts, repair open in Violet/Brown wire between ignition switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display 0 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between harness side of ignition switch connector terminals No. 1 (Violet/Orange wire) and No. 2 (Violet/Brown wire). Using scan tool, select SENSORS and monitor IGNITION SW voltage. If scan tool does not display 0 volts, go to next step. If scan tool displays 0 volts, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Reconnect the ignition switch 5-way connector. Locate and access Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using a jumper wire connected to ground, backprobe BCM connector C4 terminal No. 14 (Violet/Orange wire). Monitor IGNITION SW voltage on scan tool. If scan tool displays 0 volts, repair open in Violet/Orange wire between ignition switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display 0 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
