Run/Start Hardwire Input Failure

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. With the DRBIII®, record and erase DTC's. Cycle the ignition from ON to OFF. Start the vehicle and observe the DRBIII®. With the DRBIII®, read DTC's. If the DRBIII® displays "RUN/START HARDWIRE INPUT FAILURE", go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display "RUN/START HARDWIRE INPUT FAILURE", the condition that caused this DTC is currently not present. Use the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, and inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Gain access to the Ignition Switch connector. Turn the ignition on. While back probing, measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) circuit. If the voltage is above 10 volts, go to the next step. If the voltage is below 10 volts, replace the Ignition Switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Gain access to the Body Control Module C2 connector. See Figure. While back probing, measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) circuit. If the voltage is above 10 volts, repair the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit for an open. If the voltage is below 10 volts, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
