Liftgate Ajar Circuit Open
NOTE:
This procedure does not apply to vehicles equipped with power liftgate.
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Open liftgate. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor LIFTGATE AJAR SW state. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is not CLOSED, go to next step. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is CLOSED, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent connections or faulty circuits at liftgate ajar switch.
- Access and disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. See POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Orange wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/Orange wire between liftgate ajar switch and ground.
- Monitor LIFTGATE AJAR SW state. Connect a fused jumper wire between liftgate ajar switch connector terminals. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is not CLOSED, go to next step. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Orange wire between liftgate ajar switch connector and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 29. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Orange wire.
NOTE:
If Power Liftgate equipped, the ajar switch is in the Liftgate Cinch/Release Motor.
