Front Fog Lamp Relay Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn foglights on. Recheck for DTCs. If FRONT FOG LAMP RELAY OPEN resets, go to next step. If FRONT FOG LAMP RELAY OPEN does not reset, go to step  5.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check that foglight relay is installed in the Intelligent Power Module (IPM) located in left front of engine compartment. See Figure. If foglight relay is installed in IPM, go to next step. If foglight relay is not installed, replace missing relay.
  3. Replace existing relay with a known-good relay. Turn foglights on. If foglights operate properly, replace relay. If foglights do not operate properly, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Remove foglight relay from IPM. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and foglight relay cavity terminal No. 86. See Figure. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace IPM. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace Front Control Module (FCM). See FRONT CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 1 (20-amp) from Intelligent Power Module (IPM) located in left front of engine compartment. See Figure. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck operation of foglights.
  6. Remove FCM from IPM. See FRONT CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove foglight relay from IPM. Using DVOM, measure resistance between foglight relay cavity terminal No. 85 and FCM connector terminal No. 33. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair or replace IPM. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
