High Beam Switch Input Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn headlights on and activate high beams on. Recheck for DTCs. If HIGH BEAM SWITCH INPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If HIGH BEAM SWITCH INPUT OPEN does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect multifunction switch 4-pin connector. For removal and installation procedures to access connector, see STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Connect a fused jumper wire between multifunction switch connector terminals No. 2 (Violet/Orange wire) and No. 4 (Violet/Light Green wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor MULTIFUNCTION switch voltage. If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, replace multifunction switch.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors C4 and C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure and Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Light Green wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 4 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 27. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Orange wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 2 and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 22. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Orange wire.
