Turn Signal Switch Input Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Activate turn signals. Recheck for DTCs. If TURN SIGNAL SWITCH INPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If TURN SIGNAL SWITCH INPUT OPEN does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect multifunction switch 4-pin connector. For removal and installation procedures to access connector, see STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Connect a fused jumper wire between multifunction switch connector terminals No. 2 (Violet/Orange wire) and No. 3 (White/Light Blue wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor MULTIFUNCTION switch voltage. If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, replace multifunction switch.
- Locate and disconnect BCM connector C4 and C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure and Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Orange wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 2 and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 22. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Orange wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Light Blue wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 31. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Light Blue wire.
