Front Fog Lamp Indicator Short To Ground

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 15 seconds. Turn ignition on. Recheck for DTCs. If FRONT FOG LAMP INDICATOR SHORT TO GROUND resets, go to next step. If FRONT FOG LAMP INDICATOR SHORT TO GROUND does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off and to LOCK position. Turn ignition on. Turn foglights on. Access rear of headlight switch connector. For removal and installation procedure to access connector, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe headlight switch connector terminal No. 10 (White/Orange wire). See Figure. If test light does not illuminate brightly, go to next step. If test light illuminates brightly, replace headlight switch.
  3. Turn ignition off and to LOCK position. Disconnect headlight switch connector. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground BCM connector C5 terminal No. 34 (White/Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Orange wire between BCM and headlight switch. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
