Dome Switch Input Short
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, clear all BCM DTC's. Turn the Dome Lamps on. With the DRBIII®, read the DTC information. If the DRBIII® displays: DOME SWITCH INPUT SHORT, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display: DOME SWITCH INPUT SHORT, the condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Headlamp Switch harness connector. See Figure. Disconnect the Body Control Module C5 connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the Panel Lamps Dimmer Signal Circuit to ground. If the resistance is below 1000 ohms, repair the Panel Lamps Dimmer Signal Circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is above 1000 ohms, go to the next step.
- Turn the ignition off: Disconnect the Headlamp Switch harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the Panel Lamps Dimmer Signal Circuit and the Headlamp Switch MUX Return Circuit to ground. If the resistance is below 1000 ohms, replace the headlamp switch. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If the resistance is above 1000 ohms, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
