Front Courtesy Lamps Output Short

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, clear all BCM DTC's. Turn the courtesy lamps on. With the DRBIII®, read the DTC information. If the DRBIII® reads: FRONT COURTESY LAMPS OUTPUT SHORT, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not read: FRONT COURTESY LAMPS OUTPUT SHORT, the condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Headlamp Switch harness connector. See Figure. Disconnect the Body Control Module C5 harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the Front Courtesy Lamp Output circuit. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, repair the Front Courtesy Lamp Output circuit for a short condition. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, go to the next step.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the Front Courtesy Lamp Output circuit. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, replace the Overhead Console. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
