Reading Lamp Output Short
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, clear all BCM DTC's. Turn the Reading Lamps on. With the DRBIII®, read the DTC information. If the DRBIII® displays: READING LAMP OUTPUT SHORT, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display: READING LAMP OUTPUT SHORT, the condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector. See Figure. Turn the reading lamps on. Measure the resistance of the Reading Lamps circuit. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the Reading Lamps Driver Circuit for a short condition.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 and C4 harness connectors. See Figure and Figure . Measure the resistance of the Glove Box and Reading Lamps Circuits. If the resistance is below 5 ohms in any of the circuits, repair the Glove Box Lamp Driver/Reading Lamps Circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is above 5 ohms in any of the circuits, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
