Reading Lamp Output Short

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, clear all BCM DTC's. Turn the Reading Lamps on. With the DRBIII®, read the DTC information. If the DRBIII® displays: READING LAMP OUTPUT SHORT, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display: READING LAMP OUTPUT SHORT, the condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector. See Figure. Turn the reading lamps on. Measure the resistance of the Reading Lamps circuit. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the Reading Lamps Driver Circuit for a short condition.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 and C4 harness connectors. See Figure and Figure . Measure the resistance of the Glove Box and Reading Lamps Circuits. If the resistance is below 5 ohms in any of the circuits, repair the Glove Box Lamp Driver/Reading Lamps Circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is above 5 ohms in any of the circuits, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
