Front Riser Sensor Out Of Range High
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs from Memory Seat/Mirror Module (MSMM). Operate driver's power seat and memory functions. Turn ignition off. Start engine and let idle for approximately one minute. Recheck for DTCs in MSMM. If FRONT RISER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE HIGH resets, go to next step. If FRONT RISER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE HIGH does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See POWER SEATS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector. Front riser sensor connector has Light Green/Brown, Light Green and Light Green/White wires. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "A" (Light Green/Brown wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 7.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "C" (Light Green/White wire). Turn ignition on. If voltage is 5.5 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 5.5 volts, repair short to voltage in Light Green/White wire between driver's seat front riser sensor and splice located near MSMM.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and MSMM connector C2 terminal No. 15 (Light Green wire). See Figure and Figure . If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, repair short to voltage in Light Green wire between MSMM and driver's seat front riser sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect MSMM connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor select BODY MEMORY SEAT SENSORS and monitor FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage. If FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, go to next step. If FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is 0.2 volt or less, replace seat track assembly. See POWER SEAT POSITION ADJUSTER TRACK under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SEATS article.
- Reconnect driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector. Using scan tool, monitor FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage. Operate front of seat up and down. If FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is 7 volts or less, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is greater than 7 volts when seat motor is operating, replace seat track assembly.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Ensure driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector is disconnected. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Green/Brown wire between driver's seat front riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "A" and MSMM connector C3 terminal No. 16. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
