Left Mirror Horizontal Sensor Out Of Range High

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, erase DTCs from Memory Seat/Mirror Module (MSMM). Operate power mirror and memory functions. Turn ignition off. Start engine and let idle for approximately one minute. Recheck for DTCs in MSMM. If LEFT MIRROR HORIZONTAL SENSOR OUT OF RANGE HIGH resets, go to next step. If LEFT MIRROR HORIZONTAL SENSOR OUT OF RANGE HIGH does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See MEMORY SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect left power mirror connector. To access connector, power mirror will need to be removed. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER MIRRORS article. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and left power mirror connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Violet wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step  5.
  3. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and left power mirror connector terminal No. 5 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace left power mirror.
  4. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure resistance of Tan/White wire between left power mirror connector terminal No. 5 and MSMM connector C2 terminal No. 1. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/White wire.
  5. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and left power mirror connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Violet wire). If voltage is not present, go to next step. If any voltage is present, repair short to voltage in circuit between left power mirror connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Violet wire) and MSM connector C2 terminal No. 20 (Tan/Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure .
  6. Using DVOM, measure resistance between left power mirror connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Violet wire) and MSM connector C2 terminal No. 20 (Tan/Yellow wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Violet or Tan/Yellow wire.
