Memory Position Switch Stuck

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off and back on. Operate memory switch several time while monitoring DTCs on scan tool. If MEMORY POSITION SWITCH STUCK resets, go to next step. If MEMORY POSITION SWITCH STUCK does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See MEMORY SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Disconnect memory switch connector. See MEMORY SET SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MEMORY SYSTEMS article. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select SENSORS and monitor MEMORY SELECT SW volts. If MEMORY SELECT SW volts are 4.8 volts or less, go to next step. If MEMORY SELECT SW volts are greater than 4.8 volts, replace memory switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 24 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Brown wire.
