Memory Switch Input Short
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, record and erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off and back on. Operate memory switch several times while monitoring DTCs on scan tool. If MEMORY SWITCH INPUT SHORT resets, go to next step. If MEMORY SWITCH INPUT SHORT does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See MEMORY SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Disconnect memory switch connector. See MEMORY SET SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MEMORY SYSTEMS article. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select SENSORS and monitor MEMORY SELECT SW volts. If voltage is 4.8 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 4.8 volts, replace memory switch.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and memory switch connector terminal No. 1 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Brown wire between memory switch and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 24.
