EC Mirror Day/Night Line Fault

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. With the DRBIII®, erase the DTC. Cycle the ignition on and off several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 15 seconds. With the DRBIII®, read DTCs. If the DTC reset, go to the next step. If the DTC did not reset, the condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIII® parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. See Fig 1. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit in the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. If the voltage is 4.9 volts, replace the Automatic Day/Night Mirror. If the voltage is not 4.9 volts, go to the next step.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the EVIC harness connector. See Fig 2. Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. See Fig 1. Measure the resistance of the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit between the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector and the EVIC harness connector. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit for an open.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the EVIC harness connector. See Fig 2. Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. See Fig 1. Measure the resistance of the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit in the EVIC harness connector to ground. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, repair the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, go to the next step.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. See Fig 1. Disconnect the EVIC harness connector. See Fig 2. Using a 12 volt test light connected to ground, probe the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit in the Automatic Day/Night Mirror harness connector. If the test light illuminates brightly, repair the Automatic Headlamp Switch Sensor circuit for a short to voltage. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, replace the CMTC/EVIC Module. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
