RKE Program Line Output Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Monitor DTCs on scan tool. Operate Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. If RKE PROGRAM LINE OUTPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If RKE PROGRAM LINE OUTPUT OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4 (White/Gray wire). If voltage is not 10.2-11.8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10.2-11.8 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect RKE module connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Gray wire between BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4 and RKE module connector terminal No. 2. See Fig 1. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Gray wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4 (White/Gray wire). If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Gray wire. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
