Incomplete Power Close - Full Open Switch Failure/Non Engagement
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power liftgate several times if possible. Recheck for DTCs. If INCOMPLETE POWER CLOSE - FULL OPEN SWITCH FAILURE resets, go to next step. If INCOMPLETE POWER CLOSE - FULL OPEN SWITCH FAILURE does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Visually inspect liftgate for proper alignment, damaged strikers, damaged latches or obstructions. Repair as necessary. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor FULL OPEN SWITCH state. Manually operate liftgate while observing DVOM. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state changes smoothly while liftgate is moving from open to closed position, go to next step. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state does not change smoothly while liftgate is moving from open to closed position, diagnose power liftgate by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article.
- Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor FULL OPEN SWITCH state. Open liftgate to mid position. Access full open switch connector. See Fig 1. To access connector, left rear trim will need to be removed. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Wiggle wiring harness. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state ever changes, repair short to ground in Orange wire between Power Liftgate Module (PLGM) connector C2 terminal No. 14 and power liftgate motor connector terminal No. 2. See Figure. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state does not change, replace PLGM. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
