Incomplete Power Open - Hall Effect Signal Missing

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power liftgate several times from full open to full closed position if possible. Recheck for DTCs. If INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - HALL EFFECT SIGNAL MISSING resets, go to next step. If INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - HALL EFFECT SIGNAL MISSING does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Visually inspect liftgate for proper alignment, damaged strikers, damaged latches or obstructions. Repair as necessary. If possible, check operation of liftgate on a known-good vehicle. If liftgate effort is excessive, diagnose power liftgate by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article. If liftgate effort is not excessive, go to next step.
  3. With liftgate open, place an object in liftgate closing path and close liftgate. If liftgate reverses direction from close to open when liftgate makes contact with object, go to next step. If liftgate does not reverse direction from close to open when liftgate makes contact with object, replace Power Liftgate Module (PLGM). See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Turn ignition off. Access and disconnect power liftgate motor connector. See Figure. To access connector, left rear trim will need to be removed. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe power liftgate motor connector terminal No. 9 (Black/Light Green wire). If test light illuminates brightly, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate or is dim, repair open or high resistance in Black/Light Green wire between power liftgate motor and Power Liftgate Module (PLGM) connector C2 terminal No. 20. See Figure.
  5. Disconnect PLGM connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Violet wire between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 1 and power liftgate motor connector terminal No. 7. Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is steady at 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms or varies, repair open in Tan/Violet wire.
  6. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Violet wire). Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms and steady, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less or varies, repair short to ground in Tan/Violet wire.
  7. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 1 (Tan/Violet wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms and steady, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less or varies, repair short between Tan/Violet and Black/Light Green wires. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  8. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Light Green wire between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 17 and power liftgate motor connector terminal No. 8. Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is steady at 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms or varies, repair open in Tan/Light Green wire.
  9. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 17 (Tan/Light Green wire). Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms and steady, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less or varies, repair short to ground in Tan/Light Green wire.
  10. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 17 (Tan/Light Green wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms and steady, replace power liftgate motor assembly. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less or varies, repair short between Tan/Light Green and Black/Light Green wires.
