Incomplete Power Open - Link Rod Failure

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ensure the Link Rod is connected to the Liftgate before proceeding. With the DRBIII®, record and erase DTC's. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on. Operate the power liftgate several times from stop to stop if possible. With the DRBIII®, read ACTIVE DTCs. If the DRBIII® displays INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - LINK ROD FAILURE, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - LINK ROD FAILURE, using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Operate the liftgate several times and check for any binding conditions.
  2. With the DRBIII®, read ACTIVE DTCs. If the DRBIII® displays INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - EXCESSIVE HALL EFFECT COUNTS/NON ENGAGEMENT, see INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - EXCESSIVE H.E. COUNTS/NON ENGAGEMENT . If the DRBIII® does not display INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - EXCESSIVE HALL EFFECT COUNTS/NON ENGAGEMENT, go to the next step.
  3. Examine the liftgate for proper alignment, worn or binding hinges, weak liftgate prop assembly, loose/hard weatherstrip, and gear teeth on the power liftgate motor assembly for wear or anything that would cause an obstruction to proper operation. If necessary manually operate the power liftgate on a known good vehicle and notice the effort needed to open and close for comparison. If it takes more effort to operate the liftgate than it should, see POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article. If liftgate operates properly, replace the Liftgate Motor Assembly. See LIFTGATE MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article.
