Outside Liftgate Handle Input Short

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Disconnect license plate light connector. See Figure. To access connector, liftgate door panel will need to be removed. For removal and installation procedures, see POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If OUTSIDE LIFTGATE HANDLE INPUT SHORT is set, go to next step. If OUTSIDE LIFTGATE HANDLE INPUT SHORT is not set, replace liftgate handle (part of license plate light assembly).
  2. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and license plate light connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Dark Green wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Dark Green wire between license plate light and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 22.
