Pinch Sensor Circuit Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate liftgate several times. Recheck for DTCs. If PINCH SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN resets, go to next step. If PINCH SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Disconnect Power Liftgate Module (PLGM) connector C2. See Figure. To access connector, left rear trim will need to be removed. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 5 (Orange/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is greater than 22 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 22 k/ohms or less, replace PLGM.
  3. Disconnect left and right pinch sensor connectors. See Fig 1. To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. For removal and installation procedures, see POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange/Dark Blue wire between left pinch sensor and right pinch sensor. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Dark Blue wire.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance between right pinch sensor (Black/Orange wire) and PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). Wiggle wiring harness with DVOM connected. If resistance is steady at 20 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 20 ohms or varies, repair open in ground circuit between right pinch sensor and PLGM. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  5. Reconnect left pinch sensor. Connect a fused jumper between right pinch sensor connector terminals. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 5 (Orange/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is greater than 11 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 11 k/ohms or less, replace right pinch sensor.
  6. Reconnect right pinch sensor. Disconnect left pinch sensor. Connect a fused jumper between left pinch sensor connector terminals. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 5 (Orange/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is greater than 11 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 11 k/ohms or less, replace left pinch sensor.
  7. Remove jumper wire. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange/Light Blue wire between left pinch sensor and PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 5. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, test is complete. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Light Blue wire.
