Front Washer Output Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ignition on, engine off. Press the Front Washer Switch. If the Front Washer Motor Functions, go to the next step. If the Front Washer Motor does not Function, go to step  3.
  2. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, erase all BCM and FCM DTCs. Turn the ignition off. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit. Wiggle the wiring while checking for shorts and open circuits. If there were any problems found, repair as necessary. If there were no problems found, the test is complete.
  3. Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector. See Fig 1. Check connectors - clean/repair as necessary. Ignition on, engine off. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused Accessory Relay Output circuit in the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector. If the test light illuminates brightly, go to the next step. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, repair the Fused Accessory Relay Output circuit for an open.
  4. Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector. See Fig 1. Ignition on, engine off. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12 Volts, check the Front Washer Pump Motor Control circuit in the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector while pressing the Front Washer Switch. If the test light illuminates brightly, replace the Front Washer Pump Motor. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, go to the next step.
  5. Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Control Module harness connector. See Figure. Disconnect the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector. See Fig 1. Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. Measure the resistance of the Rear Washer Pump Motor Control Circuit from the Front Control Module connector to the hear Washer Pump Motor harness connector. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the Front Washer Pump Motor Control Circuit for an open. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step.
  6. Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Control Module connector. See Figure. Disconnect the Front Washer Pump Motor harness connector. See Fig 1. Check connectors - clean/repair as necessary. Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Front Washer Pump Motor Control circuit. If the test light illuminates brightly, repair the Front Washer Pump Motor Control Circuit for a short to voltage. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, replace the Front Control Module.
