Front Wiper Switch MUX Input Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY CONTROL MODULE and monitor FRONT WIPER SW voltage. If voltage is greater than 4.8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4.8 volts or less, go to step  6.
  2. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect multifunction switch 4-pin connector. For removal and installation procedures to access connector, see STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 29. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire.
  3. Disconnect BCM connector C4. Using DVOM, measure resistance Violet/Orange wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 2 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 22. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Orange wire.
  4. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 29 (Brown/Yellow wire). If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair short to voltage in Brown/Yellow wire.
  5. Reconnect BCM connectors. Turn ignition on. While monitoring FRONT WIPER SW voltage on scan tool, connect a jumper wire between multifunction switch connector terminals No. 1 (Brown/Yellow wire) and No. 2 (Violet/Orange wire). If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, replace multifunction switch.
  6. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Monitor DTC related parameters on scan tool while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
