Front Wiper Switch MUX Input Short To Ground
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY CONTROL MODULE and monitor FRONT WIPER SW voltage. If voltage is greater than 0.3 volt, go to next step. If voltage is 0.3 volt or less, go to step 3.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Monitor DTC related parameters on scan tool while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect multifunction switch 4-pin connector. For removal and installation procedures to access connector, see STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 29 (Brown/Yellow wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown/Yellow wire.
- Disconnect BCM connector C4. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C4 terminal No. 22 (Violet/Orange wire) and connector C5 terminal No. 29 (Brown/Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short between Violet/Orange and Brown/Yellow wires.
- Reconnect BCM connectors. Turn ignition on. Monitor FRONT WIPER SW volts on scan tool. If FRONT WIPER SW volts is greater than 4.5 volts, replace multifunction switch. If FRONT WIPER SW volts is 4.5 volts or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
