DTC P1281: Engine Is Cold Too Long: Testing
NOTE:
To diagnose this DTC, manufacturer recommends allowing vehicle to sit overnight in order to have a totally cold engine. If any ECT sensor DTCs are present, repair those DTCs before continuing with this test. Extremely cold outside ambient temperatures may have caused this DTC to set.
Start engine and drive vehicle for at least 20 minutes. Using scan tool, read engine coolant temperature. If engine coolant temperature is at least 160°F (71°C), test is complete. If engine coolant temperature is not at least 160°F (71°C), check thermostat and cooling system for probable causes. Check for any related technical service bulletins that may apply.
