Powertrain Verification Test VER-3
NOTE:
If replacing the PCM, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into PCM to prevent DTCs from being stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, and Air Bag Control Module (ACM). If replacing PCM and vehicle is equipped with a Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), secret key data must also be updated to enable engine starting. See PROGRAMMING . After completing this verification test, the 42LE Transmission verification test must be performed.
- Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are connected properly. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Perform generator output test. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
- Start the engine and set engine speed to 2000 RPM for at least 30 seconds. Cycle the ignition key off and on.
- Using DRBIII® scan tool, confirm that no DTCs are present and that all components are functioning properly. Verify symptom is no longer present. If symptom is still present or any other symptom is present, go to INTERMITTENTS in appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article for additional testing. Also, refer to any technical service bulletins that may apply.
- If any DTCs are present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are present and all components are functioning properly, repair is complete. Perform transmission verification test. See 42LE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
