Powertrain Verification Test VER-1

NOTE: If replacing the PCM, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into PCM to prevent DTCs from being stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, and Air Bag Control Module (ACM). If replacing PCM and vehicle is equipped with a Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), secret key data must also be updated to enable engine starting. See PROGRAMMING . After completing this verification test, the 42LE Transmission verification test must be performed.
  1. Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary.
  2. Inspect engine oil for fuel contamination. Change engine oil and filter as necessary. Attempt to start engine.
  3. If a no-start condition exists, diagnose no-start condition. See NO-START DIAGNOSIS in appropriate BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
  4. Run the engine for one warm-up cycle to verify operation. A warm-up cycle is defined as the engine is started, an increase of 40°F (4°C) in engine coolant temperature exists after engine is started and engine coolant temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C).
  5. Using DRBIII® scan tool, confirm that no DTCs or secondary indicators are present and that all components are functioning properly. If a DTC is present, repair is not complete. Perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are present, repair is complete. Perform transmission verification test. See 42LE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
