Fuel Tank: Installation

    NOTE: Be sure to position the splash bowl inside the tank when installing the fuel strainer. The fuel strainer holds the splash bowl in place.

  1. Install the fuel strainer (6) into the bottom of the fuel tank (4) and torque to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
  2. Install the fuel tank (4) into the cargo area. Install the fuel tank retaining nuts (3) and torque to 10 N.m (7 ft. lbs.).
  3. Position the fuel tank filler neck cup seal (9) around the filler neck.
  4. Connect the fuel tank level and pressure sensor connectors (1) to the fuel tank sending unit.
  5. Install the fuel tank partition into the cargo area. Install the fuel tank partition retaining bolts (2) and torque to 10 N.m (7 ft. lbs.).

  6. Install the cargo area trim panels.
  7. Connect the fuel feed hose (4) to the fuel strainer at the bottom of the fuel tank. Tighten the hose to 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.)

  8. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel tank.
  9. Install the splash shield.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
