Positive - Engine Compartment

Turn the ignition switch to the Off position. Be certain that all electrical accessories are turned off.
Remove the spare tire cover to gain access to the battery.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable (3).
Raise vehicle on hoist, (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
Remove the right front wheelhouse splash shield to gain access to the battery positive cable bulkhead outside terminal, (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/RF WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD - REMOVAL) .

Remove the battery positive cable to bulkhead fastener.

Remove the battery positive cable to starter fastener.

On the 2.7L and 3.5L free the battery positive cable from the routing clips located at the back of the engine.

On the 5.7L free the battery positive cable from the routing clip located at the back of the starter.
Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle making note of the cable routing.
