Fuel Injection: Injector-Fuel: Removal: 2.7L

WARNING: THE FUEL SYSTEM IS UNDER CONSTANT PRESSURE EVEN WITH ENGINE OFF. BEFORE SERVICING FUEL INJECTOR(S), FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELEASED.

To remove one or more fuel injectors, the fuel rail assembly must be removed from engine.

Release fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure .
Disconnect negative cable to battery.
Remove intake manifold plenum, (Refer to appropriate ENGINE article).
Lift Plenum up off of engine. Cover intake manifold to prevent foreign material from entering engine.
Disconnect fuel supply tube quick connect fittings at the rear of intake manifold, (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/QUICK CONNECT FITTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .

If the injector connectors are not tagged with their cylinder number, tag them to identify the correct cylinder
Remove electrical connectors from the fuel injectors.
Remove fuel rail (1) mounting bolts.
Lift fuel rail straight up off of the cylinder head.
Remove retaining clips from fuel injectors (2) at fuel rail.
Remove fuel injectors (2).
Repeat for remaining injectors.
Check injector O-ring for damage. If O-ring is damaged, it must be replaced. Replace the injector clip if it is damaged.
