Ignition Switch: Removal
The ignition switch attaches to the lock cylinder housing on the end opposite the lock cylinder. For ignition switch terminal and circuit identification, refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect negative cable from battery.
- Remove the Knee Blocker Airbag, (Refer to ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS/KNEE BLOCKER AIRBAG - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the Instrument Panel Center Bezel, (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BEZEL - REMOVAL)
- Remove the 2 switch mounting nuts. See Fig 1.
- Loosen the rear mounting nut. See Fig 2.
1 - Switch Assembly 2 - Rear Mounting Nut 3 - Interlock Cable - Slide the assembly rearward.
1 - SKREEM Module 2 - Ignition Switch - Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition Switch and SKREEM Module. See Fig 3.
- Remove the interlock cable by depressing the locking tab and pulling straight out. See Fig 4.
1 - Retaining Tab for Cable - Interlocking cable removed. See Fig 5.
- Remove ignition switch mounting screw. See Fig 6.
- Squeeze the 2 locking tabs to remove ignition switch from the lockhousing. See Fig 6.
