Ignition Coil: Removal: 2.7L

  1. Prior to removing the ignition coils, spray compressed air around the coil area and spark plug. See Fig 1.
  2. Remove the air cleaner box. For 2.4L, (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER HOUSING - REMOVAL) . For 2.7L, (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER HOUSING - REMOVAL) .

  3. Put floor jack under engine for support.
  4. Loosen the transmission mount, do not remove bolts. See Fig 2.

  5. Lower engine and transmission. See Fig 3.

  6. Remove 1 fastener from each ignition coil assembly, driver, center and passenger side coils. See Fig 4.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the passenger and driver side coils.
  8. The center ignition coils will have to be rotated to remove the electrical connector. See Fig 5.

  9. Twist driver side coil assembly. See Fig 6.

  10. Pull up and toward rear of vehicle. See Fig 7.

  11. Lift and remove from vehicle. See Fig 8.

  12. Twist center coil assembly and pull straight up. See Fig 9.

  13. Tip center coil assembly toward driver side of vehicle and remove from vehicle. See Fig 10.

  14. Twist passenger side coil assembly and pull straight up and out of vehicle. See Fig 11.
