Supplemental Restraint System

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is comprised of two primary subsystems: Active Restraints and Passive Restraints. In addition, vehicles manufactured for certain export markets include the Electronic Pedestrian Protection (EPP) system (also known as the PedPro or the Active Hood System), which includes both dynamic and static elements designed to enhance the protection of pedestrians. Additional operational details on each of these subsystems of the SRS can be found elsewhere within this service information.
