Airbag Control Module: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. If airbag is undeployed, wait two minutes for system capacitor to discharge before further service. Remove center instrument panel bezel. Disconnect power window switch connectors. Remove five screws to left knee bolster. Remove five screws to right knee bolster.
- Using a paper clip, remove headlamp switch knob. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds. Remove complete instrument panel cover/bezel. Remove two screws to radio from instrument panel. Remove four screws to HVAC control head.
- Disconnect electrical and vacuum connectors but leave temperature control cable connected and move aside. Reach through radio opening in instrument panel and unplug Airbag Control Module wire harness connector. Remove three nuts securing Airbag Control Module (ACM) to mounting bracket on floor transmission tunnel. See Fig 1
. Slide ACM out through radio opening in instrument panel.
