Clock Spring: Installation

  1. When installing, snap clock spring onto steering column. Ensure that clock spring is in proper positioned before installing. Connect clock spring wiring to instrument panel wire harness. Be certain that wiring locator clips are properly seated on outside of wiring trough and that locking tabs are engaged. Install steering column shrouds. Be certain that airbag wire is inside shrouds.
  2. The front wheels should still be in straightahead position. Install steering wheel being certain to fit flats on hub of steering wheel with formations on inside of clock spring. Pull wiring through upper and lower holes in steering wheel hub. Tighten steering wheel nut to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs.) torque.
  3. Be certain not to pinch wiring between steering wheel and nut. Connect horn switch wire, then airbag wire to driver airbag. Install driver airbag and tighten screws to 10.2 N.m (90 INCH lbs.) torque.
WARNING: DO NOT connect negative battery cable.
