System Operation Check

  1. Turn key to OFF position. Shifter movement from Park should be possible.
  2. Turn key to ON/RUN position. Shifter movement from Park should not be possible. Turn key to ON/RUN position and depress brake pedal. Shifter movement from Park should now be possible.
  3. Leave shifter in any gear range and attempt to return key to LOCK or ACC position. Key movement to LOCK or ACC position should not be possible.
  4. Return shifter to Park and attempt to remove key. Key should be removable after returning key to LOCK position. With key removed, attempt to shift out of Park. Shifter movement from Park should not be possible.
  5. If system operation is not as specified, adjustment may be required. See ADJUSTMENTS  . If shift interlock system electrical components or circuits are suspect, diagnose as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
