Front Fog Lamp Indicator Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 15 seconds. Turn ignition on. Recheck for DTCs. If FRONT FOG LAMP INDICATOR OPEN resets, go to next step. If FRONT FOG LAMP INDICATOR OPEN does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Turn foglights on. Access rear of headlight switch connector. For removal and installation procedure to access connector, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe headlight switch connector terminal No. 10 (White/Orange wire). See Figure. If test light illuminates brightly, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate brightly, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition off and to LOCK position. Disconnect headlight switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and headlight switch connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire between headlight switch and ground.
- Locate and disconnect BCM connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 34 (White/Orange wire). If voltage is 0.5 volt or less, replace headlight switch. If voltage is greater than 0.5 volt, repair short to voltage in White/Orange wire between BCM and headlight switch.
- Turn ignition off and to LOCK position. Disconnect headlight switch connector. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Orange wire between BCM connector C5 terminal No. 34 and headlight switch connector terminal No. 10. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Orange wire.
