Rear A/C-Heater Control Illumination Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read HVAC DTCs. If the DRBIII® displays any HVAC DTCs, return to the symptom list and choose the symptoms. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. If the DRBIII® does not display any HVAC DTCs, go to the next step.
  2. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read the BCM DTCs. If the DRBIII® displays Headlamp Switch: Mismatch; STG; Open; or Panel Dim Output Short, refer to appropriate symptom. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. If the DRBIII® does not display Headlamp Switch: Mismatch; STG; Open; or Panel Dim Output Short, go to the next step.
  3. NOTE: Hold the bulb in front of a lamp to see the filament.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Remove the bulb from the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch. Inspect the bulb. If the bulb is OK, go to the next step. If the bulb is not OK, replace the bulb.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Rotate the Panel Lamps Dimmer switch to the off position. Disconnect the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch C2 harness connector. See Fig 1. Turn the Headlamp switch on. Measure the voltage of the Panel Lamps Driver circuit while rotating the Panel Lamps Dimmer switch from the off position to the full brightness position. If the voltage changes from approximately 2.5 volts to 11.5 volts, go to the next step. If the voltage does not change from approximately 2.5 volts to 11.5 volts, go to step  6.
  6. Turn the Headlamp switch off. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch C2 harness connector. See Fig 1. Measure the resistance of the Ground circuit between the Rear Blower Rear Control switch C2 harness connector and ground. If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch. See HVAC CONTROLS (REAR) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in HVAC. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair the ground circuit for an open.
  7. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch C2 harness connector. See Fig 1. Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the Panel Lamps Driver circuit between the Rear Blower Rear Control Switch C2 harness connector and the Body Control Module C3 harness connector. If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair the Panel Lamps Driver circuit for an open.
