Sensor, Seat Track Position: Installation: Installation
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, Occupant Classification System (OCS), seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Reach under the seat cushion to position the Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS) (3) to the open end of the bracket (5) located on the inboard side of either the inner or outer, driver or passenger seat track.
- Push the STPS firmly into the bracket until the latch feature (2) snaps into place.
- Install and tighten the screw (1) that secures the STPS mounting boss to the bracket. Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (15 in. lbs.).
- Reconnect the seat wire harness connector (4) to the STPS connector receptacle located on the end of the STPS. Be certain that the latch on the connector is fully engaged.
- Reinstall the seat into the vehicle. Refer to SEAT, INSTALLATION .
- Do not reconnect the negative cable to the battery at this time. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Verification Test procedure should be performed following service of any SRS component. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
