Module, Fuel Pump: Installation

CAUTION:

Whenever the fuel pump module is serviced, the rubber O-ring seal must be replaced.

  1. Using a new O-ring seal (gasket), position fuel pump module (9) into opening in fuel tank.
  2. Position lock ring (8) over top of fuel pump module.
  3. Install Lock ring Remover/Installer Tool (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) to lock ring.
  4. Install 1/2 inch drive breaker into Lock ring Remover/Installer (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench).
  5. Tighten lock ring (clockwise) until all notches have engaged.

  6. Connect the return line (3).
  7. Connect the supply line (1).
  8. Connect the vent line (2).
  9. Connect the fuel pump module wire harness connector (4).

  10. Install the fuel pump module cover (2) and securely tighten screws (1).

  11. Install the cover (3) and securely tighten fasteners (1, 2).
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
