Solenoid, Variable Valve Timing: Removal: Right
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the cooling fan. Refer to FAN, COOLING, REMOVAL
.
- Carefully position a floor jack under the engine to support.
- Remove the bolts (1) from the right engine mount (2) to timing cover.
- Reposition the engine in order to gain access to the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoids.NOTE:
Mark the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid connectors (1) with a paint pen or equivalent so that they may be installed in their original locations.
- Mark the intake VVT solenoid (2) and the exhaust VVT solenoid (4) with a paint pen or equivalent so that they may be installed in their original locations.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the VVT solenoid (2, 4).
- Remove the VVT solenoid mounting bolts (3).
- Pull the VVT solenoid from the cylinder head cover.NOTE:
The seal (1) can be reused if it is not damaged.
