Sensor, Coolant Temperature: Removal
The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (1) on the 3.6L engine is installed into a water jacket at rear of the cylinder head on the left side of the engine.
WARNING:
Hot, pressurized coolant can cause injury by scalding. Cooling system must be partially drained before removing the coolant temperature sensor.
NOTE:
Do not waste reusable coolant. If solution is clean, drain coolant into a clean container for reuse.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the belly pan.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor wire harness connector.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor (1) from the cylinder head.
