Repair Procedure - Using STARMOBILE® Desktop Client

NOTE:

If this flash process is interrupted or aborted, the flash should be restarted.

Open the hood of the vehicle and install a battery charger. Verify that the charging rate provides a continuous charge of 13.2 - 13.5 volts.
Connect the StarMOBILE® to the vehicle data link connector located under the steering column and turn the ignition key to the "RUN" position.
NOTE:
If the vehicle is equipped with a Passive Entry Module (PEM), The PEM push button needs to be removed and key fob used to put the ignition switch in "RUN" position in order to complete flash process. Failure to do so will result in a "KEY not present" error on the Instrument Cluster screen while cycling ignition key OFF and ON in flash process.
Power on the StarMOBILE®. Launch the StarMOBILE® Desktop Client and connect to the appropriate StarMOBILE® device.
Retrieve the old ECU P/N. From the StarMOBILE® Home screen:
1. Select "ECU View"
2. Select "PCM"
3. Select "More Options"
4. Select "ECU Flash"
5. Record the P/N at the top of the Flash PCM screen for later reference.
6. Program the ECU. From the StarMOBILE® Home screen:
7. Select "ECU View"
8. Select "PCM"
9. Select "More Options"
10. Select "ECU Flash"
11. Select "Browse for New File" and follow the on screen instructions.
12. Highlight the appropriate calibration based on the P/N recorded in correct Step, or by using Year/Model/Engine and appropriate emissions selection for the vehicle being worked on.
  NOTE:
  If the tool is not connected to the vehicle, flash files can be searched for by selecting the "Flash Download" button from the Home screen.
13. Select "Download to Scantool"
14. Once the download is complete, select "Close" and then "Back"
15. Highlight the listed calibration, select "Update Controller" and follow the on screen instructions.
16. When the PCM update is complete, select "OK"
17. Verify that the P/N at the top of the Flash PCM screen has updated to the new part number.
NOTE:
If the flash process is interrupted or aborted, the flash should be restarted.

Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" (P/N 04275086AB) and attach near the VECI label (See - AUTHORIZED MODIFICATION LABEL for details).
