Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

  1. The use of Diagnostic Tester (M.S. 1700) is preferred when adjusting the throttle position sensor. Turn ignition on, engine off. DO NOT  unplug the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) wire harness connector. Insert voltmeter leads through the back of the wire harness connector.
  2. TPS connector is marked "A", "B" and "C". Insert negative lead of voltmeter in terminal "B" and positive lead to terminal "C". Reading should be 5 volts. Insert voltmeter positive lead to terminal "A". Reading should be .4 volt. To adjust, loosen TPS retaining screws and pivot sensor to obtain correct reading/ratio.
