Ignition System - Electronic: Description
The 2.5L and 3.0L electronic ignition system consists of 4 main components. The Ignition Control Module (ICM), is a solid state unit that generates voltage through the coil to fire the spark plugs. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU), processes information from the sensors to trigger the ICM. Sensors send information on engine conditions to the ECU. The distributor and rotor, determines which cylinder receives ignition voltage.
