Knock Sensor

Knock sensor is located on passenger side of engine block by the oil filter on 2.5L (just above oil pan on 3.0L). It is built to respond to the frequency emitted by an engine knock. When the sensor detects this frequency, it signals the ECU which responds by retarding the ignition timing on the appropriate cylinder(s).
