Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TPS electrical connector. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, check voltage between terminals "B" and "C". If voltage is 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5 volts, go to step 3 .
- Connect TPS electrical connector. Open throttle to wide open throttle. Measure voltage between terminals "A" and "B". If voltage is 4.6-4.7 volts, TPS is okay. If voltage is not 4.6-4.7 volts, adjust TPS to obtain correct voltage reading. If TPS cannot be adjusted within specification, replace TPS.
- Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminal "C15" and TPS harness terminal "C". See Figure . If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair wire harness and retest.
- Check for continuity between ECU connector terminal "D3" and TPS harness terminal "B". If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair TPS wire harness ground circuit.
- Check for continuity between ECU terminal "C7" and TPS harness terminal "A". If continuity is present, replace ECU and retest. If continuity is not present repair wire between ECU and TPS.
