EGR Control Solenoid Valve (California)

  1. Disconnect Green striped and Yellow striped vacuum hoses from EGR control solenoid valve. Mark for reassembly. Disconnect electrical connector. Connect a hand vacuum pump to nipple that held Green striped vacuum hose.
  2. Apply vacuum (no specification). Vacuum should leak. Ground one electrical terminal and apply 12 volts to other terminal. Apply vacuum (no specification). Vacuum should hold.
  3. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between EGR control solenoid terminals. Normal range is 36-44 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
