Throttle Position Sensor

  1. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector. Check resistance between terminals No. 1 and 2 (1.5L engine) or No. 2 and 3 (1.6L engine). See Fig 1 . Total resistance should be 3500-6500 ohms.
  2. Attach ohmmeter between terminals No. 2 and 3 (1.5L engine) or No. 2 and 4 (1.6L engine). Operate throttle valve from closed to wide open throttle. Ensure resistance changes smoothly throughout entire range of approximately 500 ohms at idle to 3500-6500 ohms at wide open throttle. If not to specification, replace TPS.
